How we Met (as told by Paige)

I met the curly haired, longboard-riding love of my life in 2004 when I picked him up hitchhiking. Upon turning left onto Justin's County Road, I got rear-ended by a big truck. We pulled off the highway, and were relieved to find nothing but my car was damaged. Justin remained by my side until the police left and I was able to drive him home. After the accident we began spending more and more time together before we officially started dating in April of 2005.

Meet Rio

Rio is our favorite little Rez Mutt! We don't know much about Rio's past, but she's proven to be an incredible companion. She was picked up off the Navajo Indian Reservation where she was living as a wild dog for an unknown duration of time. We found her at the Albuquerque pound in New Mexico. The pound thought she was *maybe* a year old and had *very likely* given birth to a litter of puppies while living her wild life. We took her home, fattened her up a bit and showed her the joys of a good belly-rub. Although we don't know exactly how old she is, we do know she's getting older; her muzzle is greying and her hiking speed has slowed down substantially. She still loves adventure and has summited seven fourteeners! Rio is a special dog with a special soul, and we are honored to have gotten to share so many wonderful years with her. We are, of course, looking forward to many, many more!

Meet Loki

Loki is our newest addition, and she's already proven to bring a lot to the table. Her mom was a red heeler mix, and we have no idea who her dad was. Loki's mom was rescued from a kill shelter where she was scheduled to be put down while pregnant with her litter of pups. I was actually interested in adopting Loki's mom and not a puppy, but the rescue had already found her a home. When I was told of the puppies, I decided I may as well go take a look at them. And anyone who has ever gone to "just look" at puppies knows that's impossible to do. So we went to take a look and drove home with Loki. Rio took her in like the sweet old mama dog we knew she was. Now the pair are inseparable, enjoying each other's company on the couch, in a sleeping bag and while adventuring in the vansion. Loki is a bundle of energy. She is a bit shy and slightly nervous around strangers, but she is a wonderful little dog with a big personality, and we love having her in our family.
